This section of our web site addresses many of the most frequently asked questions that we receive at Marinello Schools of Beauty.

Is Marinello an accredited school?

YES! Marinello Schools of Beauty is a private institution that is accredited by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences, Inc. The National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences is recognized by the United States Department of Education as a national accrediting agency for postsecondary schools and departments of cosmetology arts and sciences and massage therapy. The schools are approved by the United States Department of Education DOE to participate in Title IV Financial Aid programs. In addition, our schools are active members of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools AACS. We have been approved by the following state agencies to operate in their respective jurisdictions:

California

Approved to operate by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education and the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.


Connecticut

Approved to operate by the Department of Public Health. Examinations for licensing as a registered hairdresser and cosmetician are prescribed by the Department of Public Health with the advice and assistance of the Examining Board for Barbers, Hairdressers and Cosmeticians. The Department of Public Health issues licenses for the occupation of registered hairdresser and cosmetician.


Kansas

Approved to operate by the Kansas Kansas Board of Cosmetology. The board sets minimum standards for our programs of study and issues licenses to graduates upon passing the Board of Cosmetology licensing examinations.


Massachusetts

Approved to operate by the Division of Professional Licensure, Board of Registration of Cosmetologists. The division issues licenses to graduates upon passing of the examination given by the Board of Registration of Cosmetologists.


Nevada

Approved to operate by the Nevada State Board of Cosmetology.


Utah

Approved to operate by the Utah Department of Commerce, under its Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. The Utah Board of Cosmetology operates under the division and administers the licensing process.


What are the graduation requirements?

To get your diploma or certificate, you must complete the program hours, successfully pass the didactic and practical examinations, complete the required number of practical and technical procedures and meet all financial obligations.

Once I finish the program, will I get my license?

To receive your license, you must pass a licensing examination by the state board, Marinello graduates are well prepared to take and pass the licensing exam. All throughout the course, we help prepare you for the exam. We'll provide "mock board exams" so you'll know what's expected on the day of your examination. Foreign students do not qualify for the State License unless they possess a valid Social Security Number.

Tell me about the classes. What can I expect?

Classes are diversified. You're not going to be stuck in a classroom all day. As the beauty industry is made up of "hands-on" professions, we educate you through lectures, as well as live demonstrations, guest speakers, videos and practical application of salon procedures. The professors are seasoned industry professionals with years of experience behind them and the students at Marinello only work with state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge technology. Marinello provides a holistic learning environment designed to help you succeed in the real-world.

When can I start school?

Marinello Schools have an open enrollment policy and programs are offered continuously. Classes start on a bi-weekly or monthly basis. Please consult with your campus "Registrar" regarding specific start dates.

When do I begin to work on "real people"?

During the Level I training, you will start work on family and friends and as you continue to the next levels of training, you'll be working on both student salon guests in addition to the mannequins.

Is there a minimum age to enroll?

Yes, you must be at least 17 years of age.

Do I need to have a high school diploma?

Yes. Students enrolling after July 1, 2012, must have a high school diploma, GED or its equivalent to be eligible for any Federal Financial Aid. We have various options that fit your needs.

Do you offer financial aid?

Yes! We do have financial aid available for those who qualify, both private and government programs. The government programs are based on need. The financial assistance programs are very flexible and can be tailored to your individual requirements. Will you help me find a job once I get my license?

Marinello offers Career Placement assistance for graduates. While we do not guarantee you a job, we will assist you in finding your first position in the beauty industry by providing a Jobs Hotline and job leads that will make it possible for you to reach your career goals.
