Makeover Mayhem gives CPP new look
On Nov. 19, Cal Poly Pomona’s Associated Students, Inc. and Bronco Events and Activities Team held the first ever Makeover Mayhem.
Makeover Mayhem was a free event for students to try out new hair and makeup looks for fall and winter.
“Makeover Mayhem is the first event of its kind,” said Aneska Alino, third-year public relations student and BEAT outreach chair. “We wanted an event that was free for students where they could have their hair and makeup done. We do not have any other event like this. We were brainstorming and this is was one of our favorite events that we came up with.”
From noon to 2 p.m., in the rotunda and Ursa Major C of the Bronco Student Center, Makeover Mayhem provided students with hair stylists and makeup artists from the Marinello Schools of Beauty and makeup tutorials from Mary Kay consultants.
Two-hundred students were expected to attend the event.
In the rotunda, rows of chairs filled the room with curling irons, straighteners and an assortment of makeup brushes.
Senior and junior students of the Marinello Schools of Beauty worked on CPP students in beauty aprons, creating new makeup and hair styles. There were four featured looks of the day: Bronco Pride, Fall Colors, Young Wild and Free and Glitter Queen.
“The styles have varied today and it depends on what each student wants,” said Kristy Lewis, junior instructor at Marinello Schools of Beauty. “We are doing buns, braids, up-dos and curls. The most popular look today has been big loose curls and then a daytime makeup look.”
