LOS ANGELES, CA – Marinello Schools of Beauty, one of the most renowned and longest running beauty schools on the West Coast, recently announced that it launched the Marinello Raw Talent Scholarship program to motivate high school students to pursue their professional goals in the beauty industry.
The program features $30,000 in available scholarships, including $10,000 for first place, and $5,000 each for second, third, fourth, and fifth place winners.
Marinello expects its new scholarship program to attract many high school students interested in following their dreams of pursuing cosmetology and esthetician training. Full contest rules can be reviewed in detail at marinello.com/scholarship.
"The Marinello Raw Talent Scholarship program is a wonderful way for Marinello Schools of Beauty to give back to the community. Through this program, we are not only encouraging young people to pursue the beauty industry professions of their dreams, but we are also giving them the opportunity to obtain the financial resources needed to do so," says Archana Kaushal, Executive Director of Marketing for Marinello Schools of Beauty (http://www.marinello.com).
Qualified candidates interested in the Marinello Raw Talent Scholarship program can apply by submitting an essay describing how they plan to make a difference as a professional in the beauty school industry. Marinello’s high school scholarship committee will review all submitted essay entries, judging on criteria including content, creativity, syntax, spelling and grammar, as well as the candidate’s ability to show they are success driven and enthusiastic about being a beauty industry professional. All essays must be postmarked by May 15, 2009.
After finalists are selected from the essay submittals, the skills competition portion of the program will help determine the ultimate scholarship winner. Two skills competitions will take place: one for the cosmetology category where finalists will perform updo’s; and the second for the esthetics category where finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their makeup skills. During the skills competition portion, a Marinello campus director and their staff will take ‘before and after’ photographs of each participant’s work. All photographs will be sent to the committee for final judging and the selection of the winners.
