Marinello Schools of Beauty Announces 2010 Winners of the Raw Talent High School Scholarship Program
- Five inspiring cosmetology students awarded scholarships to fulfill their career goals -
WHITTIER, CA Marinello Schools of Beauty, one of the most renowned and well established beauty schools on the West Coast, this week awarded five scholarships to participants of the of the Marinello Raw Talent High School Scholarship contest competition. The first place winner will receive $10,000 and the four runner-ups will receive $5,000 each to pursue their dreams of a professional career in the beauty industry.
This years first place scholarship winner Jessica Wylie, a cosmetology student at the Marinello campus in Redding, California, moved the scholarship committee with her essay titled Beauty from Ashes. In her essay, she describes a goodwill program between Marinello students providing free cosmetology services to young female victims of abuse, inspired by her own experience volunteering as a mentor at a safe house for victimized girls. Jessica states I believe a program such as this will change the way the industry is viewed and the way the girls view the world. $5,000 Runner-up winners included Metzli Gallo, a cosmetology student of Ontario, California, Maricela Lopez an esthetics student attending the San Francisco campus, Leonel Torres, a cosmetology student from the San Diego, campus and finally Ruth Rubio, an esthetics student at the Burbank, California campus.

For a second year in a row the highly anticipated Raw Talent High School Scholarship program has been successful in competitively allowing high school students the opportunity to express their desires for a rewarding career in the beauty industry while showing off their natural creativity and talent. Scholarship candidates were required to submit an essay describing how they plan to make a difference as a professional in the beauty industry. Upon review, selected finalists from each category of esthetics and cosmetology are then challenged to show their abilities for the skills portion of the competition.
