Marinello Schools of Beauty is proud to announce that cosmetology student Cheyanne Birchall, Reno campus, has won an award in the Beauty Changes Lives Enrolled Student Scholarship Competition.

More than 80 beauty school students enrolled in American Association of Cosmetology Schools submitted videos and essays to enter the contest. Birchall’s video entry was one of four selected to receive a mentoring experience with a beauty industry icon and $500 travel allowance. Birchall will spend a day learning from Jan Arnold, co-founder and style director of Creative Nail Design. Other mentors participating in the contest included Ted Gibson, celebrity hairstylist; Howard Murad, MD, renowned dermatologist and published author; and Diana Schmidtke, makeup artist and grooming consultant to many of Hollywood’s leading men.

A judging panel comprised of industry experts selected the winners based on their passion for the industry and the number of online votes their application submissions (1-to 3-minute video or essay) received. Videos and essays answered the question: How does beauty change lives, and how will you change lives as a beauty and wellness professional? Winners were announced during the Cosmetology Educators of America Convention, July 27–30, in Orlando.
